📜 コース概要 Course Objective/Course Overview

本授業は、生成系AIやデジタル技術を活用しながら、英語リーディングを中心に、総合的な英語能力（受容Reception、産出Production、やりとりinteraction、仲介mediation）を高めることを目標とします。具体的な目標は以下です。

  1. リーディング能力の強化: • 音声を聞きながら読む訓練を行い、文字処理と音声処理を統合したリーディング能力を強化します。
  2. 総合的な語彙力の獲得: • 意味情報のみに焦点を当てた語彙学習から脱却し、音声情報・意味情報・統語情報を総合した語彙能力の獲得を目指します。
  3. 日本語の知識を活かした英語習得: • 日本語による背景知識を活用し、日本語語彙を英語と対比して、その違いを理解し、処理する能力の強化を目指します。カタカナ表記も用いた発音習得を含め、多言語能力（plurilingualism）の観点から英語習得を促進します。
  4. 自立した学習者への転換: • 様々な学習ツールを活用し、上述の各目標に注意を払いつつ、自立して学習できるようになることを目指します。

以上に加えて、英語を実生活で使う能力（音声と文字で理解して伝えるなど、やりとりをする能力）も向上させ、そのための学習スキルを学ぶことも目標とします。そこでは、語学習得において弊害になっている可能性のある固定観念も少しずつ変えてもらいます。

This course aims to strengthen comprehensive English language skills (reception, production, interaction, and mediation) with a focus on reading skills, utilizing generative AI app and digital technologies. The specific objectives are as follows:

  1. Strengthening Reading Skills: • To improve reading proficiency by practicing listening while reading, integrating text processing with auditory processing to understand spoken and written information in English.
  2. Acquisition of Comprehensive Vocabulary Skills: • To move beyond learning vocabulary based solely on translated meaning and to aim for the acquisition of vocabulary that integrates phonological, semantic, and syntactic information (grammar, expression, wording).
  3. Leveraging Japanese Knowledge in Learning English: • To use background knowledge from Japanese to enhance the understanding and processing of English vocabulary, considering the differences between the two languages. This includes using katakana transcriptions for mastering pronunciation, promoting English language acquisition from a plurilingual perspective.
  4. Transition to Independent Learning: • To be an independent learners by using various digital learning tools, keeping in mind the above objectives.

In addition to these goals, this course aims to improve the ability to use English in real-life situations (such as understanding and conveying information through both speech and writing and engaging in interactions) and to learn the necessary skills for this purpose. We will also gradually change any fixed ideas that may be hindering language learning.

Students enrolling in this course will:

  1. Acquire the foundation to boost their ability to read and comprehend more complex academic texts than those covered in English I.
  2. Improve their skills to concisely communicate and share information through spoken and written English.
  3. Use their background knowledge of Japanese or mother language to learn English more effectively.
  4. Gain knowledge on how to create a personalized learning environment using digital technologies and AI tools.
  5. Strengthen self-evaluation skills to improve English abilities with guidance, coaching, and feedback from the instructor during the class.
  6. Become an life-long leaner using various tools.
  7. Acquire knowledge of scientifically based effective language learning methods and apply this knowledge to their future studies and training.
